Where Is Google Algo Heading?

Guys I am sorry; I promise the next post will be a continuation of SEO techniques, but I feel that the importance of this change is well worth discussing. Well all know that Google has dominated the search market for years and has no plans to stop. There have been major changes to the Algo reported by a few authority blogs, which by the way are only guessing on why and how the Algorithm is changing. I would like to go over some different ideas of what is happening and hopefully the discussion will draw you in, I would love to hear what you think about Google and where you think they are heading in there ranking system.

Now the first discussion which I have been a part on in forums and different SEO blogs through out the blogosphere has been whether or not Google is going to base it's SERPs on the buzz in the online community. Such as if everyone is talking about, tweeting, digging, and so on about a particular website that website will receive authority even over well established websites that has a much more extensive backlinking campaign. To me from reading many arguments I think this is a definite possibility. What then does this mean for the webmasters out there? Well if you have a website or blog instead of spending time building backlinks it will be necessary to come up with something original and buzz worthy enough to get into the mix within the online network and bookmark sites. Personally with my recent success of this blog on certain blogging networks this perhaps would go in the favor of mine, but my website would surely sink which would suck since it has brought in my income for the past year. Anyway this is only one possiblity of where Google is heading when deciding the ranks within its SERPs. Let's move on to some more possibilities.

Another buzz throughout the webmaster/blogging community has been Google will be sticking with the majority of past factors when determining a websites rank. Now for those who have been slipping into the depths of page 2 and up will more than likely dispute this, but perhaps I can offer a solution for these webmasters and bloggers that have seen their position slipping. Google on it's blog posted that they have reached another benchmark of 1 trillion unique URL's with an explosion of new websites popping up daily. Especially with this recession people more than ever are looking for ways to make money and why not online? Well with this increase of webmasters there will be much higher competition for even relatively low searched key terms. Could it be that you have continued on your link building and promotion campaign at the same rate only to be overtaken by webmasters and bloggers who are doubling or even tripling the amount of time your spending online? I have found this to be the case with my website Make Money Online. Every night when I go to sleep if I am not on page one I will usually spend 20 hours daily until I reach the top page and begin receiving the traffic that comes with such a spot. Well after a week or so after being on page one I will begin working on my blogs and I notice a drop down into the second or third pages for some of the keywords which I usually dominate. When I check the websites pushed ahead I notice they have been increasing the amount of backlinks and also making sure to keep fresh content on their website which is one of the fundamentals for ranking well in SERPs. When I see this I have to go back to promotion of my website until I am back on top. Anyway this is perhaps not the case for the slipping of your website or blog in the SERPs, but it is a definite factor to consider when trying to depict a drop.

Ok now onto what all of us one man webmasters and bloggers pray is not happening, but is likely. Google has become a complete sale out and only give preference to people with the bucks. The top of course being corporations that recently have been bumping webmasters off the top of SERPs that have been there for years. The reasons for this are very unclear to me and I actually hope they are using such a flawed reasoning opening the doors for a search engine willing to offer fair results and not hold preference to websites that are backed by big business. Do I believe that Google is doing this? Well not really, but it is hard to deny proof when we see webmasters who are much more deserving of the top spots being bumped and replaced by large corporations. So then where will that place webmasters and bloggers who work tirelessly on their blogs and websites? More than likely we will have to find jobs working for these corporations getting paid only a fraction of what we made by running our own websites or blogs. The other thing we can do is begin micro niche domination's which is the process of picking at the visitors that are searching for something within a niche. Let me give you an example: you run a website about fishing and you sale fishing equipment on that website. Well Google gives away the top spots to companies such as cabelas and other top sportsman companies pushing you deep into the SERPs. If you begin micro niche domination you pick something in the fishing niche such as fishing line or reels and begin marketing that part of the niche, which of course will be much less competitive and you will not receive the same return monetarily as dominating the general fishing equipment marketing. Anyway there is alot of talk that Google is selling out to these corporations and this is what the expected results will be.

I am tired of typing so I guess I will conclude today's post. You must remember that the Google algorithm is kept secret so these guess's are exactly that. If you believe that something is happening with the Algo feel free to leave a comment I would love to hear what you guys have to say. Remember this is a do follow blog so make sure to put your name @ your keywords to take advantage of the link juice. Also I could really use your help so if you have found this blog helpful please throw me a link from your website or reference me on a forum or in an article. Anyway I hope you enjoyed:)

Reasearching Competition

First off I want to thank the followers and readers from technorati you guys have pushed me up into the top 500k. For anyone new to this site please add this to your favs in technorati there is a button off to the side. Anyway on to the post!!

When you first build a website marketing campaign there is always alot of questions and the majority of these questions can be answered doing appropriate searches on your competitors. I think the best two questions that can be answered and are at the core of website marketing are

1st How many backlinks will I need to reach the first page of Google

2nd What is the keyword density used by the top websites in your niche

Let's focus on backlinks to begin. When doing research for a particular term type it into google and get a grasp of competition. Now some competitors that you should avoid are .edu links and wikis. It is nearly impossible to gain more importance even through an incredible link building campaign. So once you have found the keywords that fit your site and the competitors are composed of .com, .org, and other sites possible to beat make sure the keywords are worth going after. Personally I prefer the Google Adwords https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal just put the keywords into the box and then select exact in the match type and google will bring in the number of searches done in the previous month. If you would like to measure the trends of a keyword over a period of time then a better tool would be http://www.google.com/insights/search/#. I have found this very useful when trying to understand why I am not getting organic traffic from a specific keyword during a certain amount of time. Anyway sorry about that let's get back to backlinks and competitors. Once you have decided on your keywords look at the first ten results; these guys will be your direct competition and you will need to be attempting to out build them with your backlinks. If you want to check their backlinks my favorite tool is going to yahoo search and using the link: in front of their URL. The search will bring up a list of every site linking to your competitor. Now if you really want to get an edge on your competition I recommend going down the list and commenting on blogs they have commented on and requesting link exchanges with websites that have their URL on them. You should be spending at least one hour daily looking through what new websites are linking to your competitors and trying to keep up with them. You will also see the number of backlinks you will need to compete with certain sites when using the yahoo link: tool.

As any veteran webmaster/blogger knows backlinks are not everything. Back years ago if you received a couple thousand backlinks it usually meant that you were dominating your niche; no adays keyword density is very important and you will want the keyword or phrase more densely in you content than your competitors. To check your keyword density use this tool http://www.keyworddensity.com/ and once you check which terms are most prevalent and what the density is of your keywords match them against the top sites in your niche. Let me give you an example, just recently I made the top 10 for make money free and how I did this was going through the top ten websites and I made sure that I had just as many backlinks and the density for the keyword phrase make money free was higher than theirs. Now I get plenty of organic Google traffic for my efforts meaning I am making much more money then when I did not rank well for this term. Next of course I will be attempting the coveted make money keywords which of course has much stiffer competition. Anyway if you do proper research on your competition you will gain an understanding of the amount of work that it will take to beat them on Google SERPs. Before you begin make sure the work is worth it by checking the amount of search volume the keyword or phrase gets by using the adwords tool I showed you above.

Well to conclude I hope you enjoyed the post and it will be helpful in your quest of gaining rank within the SERPs and beating out the competition. Remember this blog has the no follow attribute removed so you will receive a link back. I would like to ask a favor from those who found this useful-will you please give me a backlink I have found the website marketing niche to be one of the most competitive and if this blog has helped then I would really appreciate if you could throw me a link on your website/blog or even a submission to a directory or a reference on a forum everything helps. Anyway tell me what you think about the post in a comment below:)

Top 5 Webmaster Forums

Hey guys sorry I have not posted for a while it has been a little crazy since I reached the top of google for make money free. Anyway on with forum posting how and why. First and foremost if your not on at least one webmaster forum your missing out on new ideas and changes in the webmaster world. Don't get me wrong to keep up with website marketing you need to be a reader of blogs such as this one and be participating in webmaster forums which I spend alot of time. The top 5 webmaster forums that any self respecting webmaster/blogger participates in are:

1. http://www.v7n.com/forums/ PR 5/10 - For my first choice in forums it was a toss up between this one and Digital Point. Both offer valuable information though I feel there are alot more newbies to internet marketing surfing the threads at Digital Point. This was the first forum I participated in and now I consider it one of the very few places online that I can actually increase my knowledge of SEO, SEM and general website marketing. A definite must for any new or upcoming webmaster/blogger.

2. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/ PR 6/10 - Just barley missing out on the top spot DP is one of the best places to get backlinks. The only reason that this forum did not get the number one is the amount of new webmasters it has. Be very careful, there are quite a few concepts that the webmasters on this forum have misconstrued into fact that will actually end up in being docked or banned in Google's index. It would be a good idea to gain a grasp of marketing on V7N before joining DP so you will be able to call BS when new webmasters attempt to promote their flawed logic.

3. http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/ PR 6/10 - Sitepoint is an excellent place to improve your knowledge of code. This site has a focus on building webpages rather than promoting them. Still the links in the signiture are do follow and will help increase your placement in Google SERPs.

4. http://www.webproworld.com/ PR 5/10 - Webproworld the dicks of the internet. I thought it was funny when I scrolled through the threads I noticed that the majority of it's members have red reputation. Don't be suprised to get a red rep before your tenth post, now the only reason this forum is on the list is they do have experts in website marketing that should be respected. Good place to learn, but the least friendly online.

5. PR 4/10 Webtalk Forums Well I had to kick off geek village for link juice hording they decided to remove sigs. Anyway I think I found a better replacement since not only is this forum PR 4, but it also an ad revenue sharing. Perhaps Geek village will see the error of their ways piss of webmasters and fall hard.

Well this is the list of must participate forums for webmasters. When you participate in the forums DO NOT DO SO FOR LINKS ONLY!! What this means is going to the forums and posting one word responses in an attempt to build backlinks. Take the time to think and put something in your posts the same applies when commenting on blogs. If your new to forum posting here is the code you use to put a link in your signiture either http://www.yoururl.com or you can use your keywords. The second way will get backlinks with your keywords which will provide better position in the SERPs. I hope you enjoyed the post if you feel that there is a forum worth participating in then feel free to leave it in a comment and remember this is a dofollow blog so your comment will get you a backlink.
